1: What is Beginer Roleplay, and how does it differ from the other Roleplay boards?
Here at Torva Canis, we reckonize that not everyone can sit still long enough to type up the kind of Roleplay's we expect on the normal RP boards. Also, writers block is hiding behind every corner, waiting to not only kidnap our muse, but to keep us from being able to think of what to wright. The beginers Roleplay board is a place where the post limit is void, thus players can post as little as they want on those boards without fear that they'll get embaresing titles, or having their posts deleted. We do NOT encourage people to only post on those boards. After all, one will only get better if you try to get better. These boards shouldn't be used just because you don't agree to the post limit, they should be used to refine your talent at story writing.
Please note, any one who posts with an incorrect scenery, or doesn't post long enough will be banned from the normal roleplay boards, and will ONLY be able to roleplay on the beginer boards.
Note: This FAQ is still being updated, and will continue to be so till the end of TC.

2. Will we be able to 'claim' territories?
Yes... somewhat. we want to keep this site as realistic as possible, with only a dash of fantasy. There will be three differnt possible territory holders, one carnivore, herbavore, and omnivore. So, one territory can be claimed and held by three differnt people. The reason for this is because in real life, differnt species often have overlapping territories. Obviously a herd of caribou will hold the same territory of a pack of wolves, else the wolves will starve because their prey isn't on their turf. Bears, being solitary, aren't likely to care about sharing space with wolves, and often end up stealing the canine's food. But at the same time, if there's a pack of wolves, there wont be a pack of coyotes. TC will be devised so that in each territory, there can be one reigning herd, one ruling pack/pride/clowder and one dominant omnivore.
Some animals will be restricted from claiming territories. These are small animals like birds, mice, rabbets etc, because they are usually solitary, and because they won't be able to defend their territory from larger competetors.
Just note that this is NOT a warriors site, so if you're planning on turning it into one, please, change the adress in the adress bar. There is no such thing as a 'star clan', and no, the dog's WONT know the effect of herbs. Also, no sane animal would put something as unsanitary and uneffective as a spider web on an open wound. So please, if you're a warrior fan, try your best to shut out things you learned from the book and actually think how -real- animals would act.
Because dogs here are origonally from sled and pack dogs brought over by gold rushers, the dog's ranking system will be based primairly off of sled positions, with a little influence from decades past, and wild animals. That would mean the lead dog would be the smartest, the 'swing dogs' will be the quickest, the 'team dogs' everything in between to give the pack strength witht their numbers, and 'wheel dogs' are the biggest and strongest.
Now weather you use that ideal dog pack structure, or weather you change it up a bit is up to you. Just remember they won't be called 'Queens', 'Med dogs','Deputy', or 'warrior', adn that the leader WONT have 'star' at the end of their name, unless they where born with that name.

3. How are new territories discovered?
Threw Roleplay of course!
Discovering a territory will be a big event. When it comes time to discover a new territory, I will pick which ever pack, herd, or omnivore that had the best roleplayers since the last discovery, and message their alpha and players telling them something happened to their pack lands that would make it wise for them to move. If they agree to 'explore', I will make it a news post announcing that so and so herd/pack has left their current territory to find another. The exploring group get's to choose what the layout of the territory looks like. They are to discuss everything together on a board that will be hidden from any other members of this site. When they are done, I will either approve, or modify it a bit, and create the new boards. Automatically, the explorers will be the ruling pack/herd.
Now, exploring is tricky business, as it means leaving your original territory behind. It will be up for grabs to the next strongest pack/herd that wants it. Of course, you're characters can come back, and re-claim your homelands if you wish, but that would mean fighting who ever took over in your absence.

4. How do I create a new character?Character creation is a relatively simple procedure. Go to the 'character creation' cattagory. There, the first board you need to look at is the accepted breeds, to make sure the breed you want is allowed. After that, you need to go to the 'character forms' board, and get the required form to make your character. Once you've copied the code, go to the ''submitted forms''. There you will past the code, and fill it out accordingly. You are only allowed a max of 3 free custom characters! After you've created three, you'll need to buy one from the store. You can get other characters from breeding or buying characters. However, you will not be able to decide how the character will look. How many pups you have in a litter, and what they look like will be decided upon by a mod, and will be based off their parents. Bought characters from users are obviously pre-made. You will be able to customize these pre-made characters by buying new markings/colors from the store

5: How does the shop work?
Aw, the shop. You get money for the shop by posting. You can see your money by your name, under 'karma'. It's called TP, or Torva points, and you get 5 per post. So obviously the active people are going to be the richest. Money can also be earned from contests, and selling things. If you hold a contest, or if you buy something, you must PM me so I can add and deduct your TP accordingly. As of yet, users can not make such transactions by themselves. I know, it's a bit of a mess, since you'll inevitably have a middle man (me), but hey, it makes it very difficult to scam people.
Once you've saved up for some TP, go to the store board to see what's for sale. If you have enough for what you want, make a thread in the ''store purchases' sub board. an admin will get to it once they have free time. If you don't receive what you want within three weeks, pm me.

6: What is the point in Roleplaying?
The biggest factor is that it's a way to pass some major time. If you want it to be, it can actually be very fun, as Roleplaying is pretty much excersizing your imagination.
People who roleplay, and I do mean ROLEPLAY, not just making two sentences and calling it done, will generally do better in their English classes, especially writing. After you get into the excersize, you'll find it'll be easier to put gather your thoughts and put them on paper. Plus, you'll pick up niffty little story writing skills along the way. You'll also likely learn several new word for your dictionary by roleplaying with other people.

7. What is an NPC?
NPC stands for 'Non-playable character'. For most video games, this term is used to describe every character but your's and other peoples. ((like rival pokemon in a pokemon video game. You can't control them, but you can interact.)) However, for roleplay, they also desribe the characters that no one really owns, and everyone can controll them. However, proper ettiquete of roleplay says that the person who originally introduced the NPC does the vast majority of roleplaying them.
Excample of NPC: Jackel ran threw the forest, the angry eagle swooping low near his back, trying to rack it's talons on him. The dog served to the right, just barely avoiding as the eagle nearly dived bombed him. Quickly, he dived into his den, leaving the fustrated eagle to cry as she circled his den several minutes before going back to the disturbed nest"
The eagle in that paragraph is an NPC, as she is a back ground character, doesn't have a name, and anyone can come in and control the eagle. NPC's include prey animals as well.
An ''official NPC'' is a character that has a referance sheet, and was either given away as to the NPC, or their owners became inactive. These characters can be brought into any roleplay for any reason, and anyone in the roleplay can control them. NPC's are the only characters that can live forever, and can be in more then two places.

8: How does a board get named?
A board get's named by the very first pack/herd/omnivore that claims a territory on that board. The names can not be too long, need to be appropriate for all ages to see. Pretty much, when you claim a territory, you must announce it in a post. MAKE SURE NO ONE ELSE HAS ALREADY CLAIMED IT.

9. How do I claim a territory?
Territories can be claimed in four ways: Exploring, fighting, claiming, and taking.
Exploring has already been explained in chapter 3.
If you want a territory that's already claimed/has been taken, then you can rally up the members of your pack/herd. If the majority agree, then you need to post on the wanted territory, titled ''Challenge for territory". If the currently ruling pack/herd does not respond, then the challengers win by default. If they do, then the fight will be determined from -post length of the fighters -Grammar and spelling and -creativity.
Any disobeying of the sites rules will automatically disqualify the person from fighting, and take serious points off the team that person was fighting for. So remember, DON'T AUTOHIT, and at least 1 out of every three attacks need to hit.
If you're a loner challenging for leadership, post on the wanted territory "Challenging the leader". The only person who can respond is the leader themselves. No other members can partake in the leadership fight. If the leader does not respond, challenger wins by default.
You must message a mod/admin before a fight begins!
Taking a territory is easier. When a previously ruling pack/herd leaves to explore, their territory is up for grabs. Simply claim the area. Note, if they leave 'guards' behind, then you will have to fight them, or convince them to join/leave.
Claiming a territory involves no fighting. You can only claim a territory if no other pack/herd is in the area, and then it's just a matter of making a post titled ''Claiming territory for ____herd/pack". In this post, you decide the name of the territory if it hasn't been already named. Others who wish to join will post on your claiming thread. Before you're official, you need to have at least five people.

10. What are punishments?
It depends on the level of the crime. While most of the larger things such as inapropriate spam, trolls, harasment, hacking, and scamming will automatically get a permenant IP ban and a deleted account, the majority of punishments are ment to embaress the offender. Your crime will often be broadcasted for everyone to see. This is so people don't have the mind set ''Only I and the closed-lipped mod will know, so why not?".
Power abuse of a mod/admin will earn them a quick stripping of their rank, AND they'll be put in a 'group' that greatly limits their ability to do anything, as well as having a custom title under their name saying "Power abuser." This will not be removed till that person can make a decent sounding apology to the public. Even after they apologize, they'll still have a restrictive group, and will never have another chance at being among the staff again. If the abuse was something drastic like stealing from members, harrasing members, and deleting/baning accounts without valid cause, they will be banned and deleted from the site.
People who ignore any of the roleplay rules or character rules will be placed in a group called ''beginner''. Everyone will be able to see you're in the group, and the only roleplay boards you can acess is the beginner boards. So, if you're going to roleplay, either make sure you are up to the standards, or roleplay on the beginner boards. They are there for a reason, peoples! The offender will not be removed from their group untill they can prove via beginer boards that their skill has improved, and they apoligize to the public for not obeying the rule book. After wich, they'll be removed, and can once again acess the big people's boards.
Smaller broken rules, such as one inapropriate word, too bright colors, chat speak in OOC, and too many caps will just earn a warning. If they do it more then once, they, too, will get a custom title broadcasting their crime.
If people keep repeating their crime after they have a custom tittle and refuse to apologize and knock it off, will be temporairly banned from the site for a period of two weeks.
