Basics
Name Jackal
Breed of dog Siberian Husky
age16 years old
height25 inches to shoulder
AppearanceJackal is a very old husky. Once his thick coat would have been a glistening dark gray, almost black, on his back and face. His white fur, which covered his underside and legs, as well as his muzzle giving him a masked appearance was almost as pure as snow. Now, though, his dark coat has faded to a silvery gray, stiff and coarse. At least he blends in with the snow just a bit better.
Jackal's eyes have changed just as much as his pelt. Once they had been a brilliant deep shade of blue, but now they are a light purple color, ridden with cataracts that came with old age. He can hardly see out of them, but when everything seems to blend in anyways, who needs eyes?
The old husky suffers from two diseases; worms and Arthritis. Because of the worms, he looks like he has a potbelly, coughs a lot, and vomits a lot. As well as his coat being even duller then it already should be. Because of arthritis, he has very stiff legs, and often finds it hard to move around
Personality
Likes: Quit, solitaire, Summer, warmth, and especially the meadows.
dislikesCold, younger dogs, disrespect, winter, loud noises, and bad scents. He absolutely hates fish.
strength Experience is his greatest strength. He also has a very strong voice, nice, loud, deep and firm, very good for howling.
weaknessesAge, mostly. He's also diseased with worms. He can't move around very much, and he's nearly blind.
Over all personalityBecause of the worms, Jackal is often tired, the correct term being 'Chronically fatigue'. Even if he could move around a lot, he wouldn't, because he just doesn't want to. No, he want's nothing more then to curl up in a nice warm pile of cloth and go to sleep.
This constant drowsiness is the main reason he's often very moody. Tread carefully around this old dog, one wrong step will send him in a frighteningly bad mood similar to a dog with rabies. Young dogs have a very bad habit of doing this, what with their newer 'trendy' ways, and their insistence on making so much darn noise. Plus they never calm down. It's always run, run, run, hunt, hunt, run, play! Then they rarely have any respect for their elders, looking down on, and ignoring Jackal just because he's old.
Don't get Jackal started on talking of the past. That is one subject he'll never tire of, but of course, young dog's don't often have the patience to sit around some old guy and listen for a change. But if they do, Jackal is likely to speak till they claw their ears off in a desperate attempt at escaping the story.
Despite being born and raised in the wild far north, he absolutely hates winter. The cold makes his joints stiff up, and his stomach hurt more. Plus, it messes with his scence of smell, which isn't good since his nose is more his sight then his eyes.
Other
history: Jackal was born to a loner female inside one of the abandoned cabins. He had had two brothers and one sister. His smaller brother didn't live long because of diseases common in pups, and Jackal holds no memory of him.
The three remaining pups grew pretty quickly, but Jackal had always been the biggest of them, and thus he easily seized the alpha position over his siblings. His dominance held even to adult hood, placing him as an alpha of a small pack consisting of him, his brother, his sister, his sister's mate and their pups. Yet, despite the normal ways where only leaders mate, Jackal never took to a mate, and had no pups to succeed him.
In his prime, Jackal did get into plenty of battles and fell into a lot of adventures. He was there when a rival pack tried to raid the den, and killed all but two of his sister's pups. He was there when a tired bear tried to push it's way into a temporary den when the pups where older. He was there when his younger brother fell into the frozen lake, surviving out of luck and luck alone.
Although Jackal grew pretty old, and developed worms from eating an infected carcass, he managed to outlive the rest of his family, except his neices. Because he grew old, he was challenged by a younger wolf, the grandson of his neice. Jackal lost the fight, and was forced off the pack lands.
family: his parents and siblings are dead from old age. He had no pups or spouse. He does have two neices that still live, and their pups if they have any.
